George James Carpenter, a tried-and-true lifelong New Englander turned Upstate New Yorker, began his career over 10 years ago as a community oriented photographer on an app known all too well, Instagram. At a mere 19 years old he was placed on the very-early-very-prestigious “Instagram Suggested Users List” cultivating a following of 20k+, he hosted collaborative community events and built an extensive commercial client list — pre-college graduation. In 2016, he pivoted.

With the toxicity and mediocrity of social media in the past and just short of 10 years of industry experience now under his belt, James has built a multi-faceted career that focuses on one thing in particular — creating collaborative relationships to unify community and design while simultaneously creating work that is timeless and emotional.

In his near decade of design experience, James worked for Arnold Worldwide, Compass and Evolved By Nature, to name a few. He created an extensive portfolio demonstrating work in advertising, creative direction, UX design, publication design, corporate branding, design leadership, social media and content strategy. As a multi-disciplinary industry leader, James believes in the importance of niche team building and strives to bring together diverse, bespoke and talented individuals to create the best work possible.

During COVID, James and his partner launched an antique company, Tabletop Vintage. An immersive antique shop curated into themed collections. Utilizing their extensive knowledge of art direction, curation and copywriting, the team built seven different worlds that, of course, fit on a tabletop. James and team proudly took home an award win from PRINT Magazine which honored their achievements in photography.

When James isn’t staring at a screen you can most likely find him standing in a field, stream or ocean with camera in hand accompanied by his closest friends, partner and their 100 pound Bernese Mountain Dog, Masha.

James is valued for his multi-faceted skills and thrives in collaboration alongside creatives and non-creatives alike.
